How can counselling help me?
Individual counselling is an opportunity to receive support and experience personal growth. Meeting with a qualified psychotherapist can help one deal with many issues such as anger, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, grief, relationship challenges, parenting issues, difficulties at school, career changes, and more. Therapy allows individuals to explore their feelings, beliefs, and behaviours.
Let's TalkWe will go through challenging or influential memories, identify aspects of your life that you would like to change, set goals, and work toward them. In doing so, you will achieve a better understanding of yourself and the strengths you have. It is essential to consider your life in context as we explore these ideas. I used a strength-based approach to empower my clients to find their solutions and make positive changes in their lives.
How often should I see a psychotherapist?
The objective of psychotherapy is to talk through mental health concerns. This process can help clients heal and live more psychologically healthy lives. The frequency of your therapy sessions is primarily based on your needs, treatment goals, and progress. Good therapy is client-driven, and you and your therapist will determine specific goals for treatment.
Should I see a therapist?
Research has shown that psychotherapy reduces the frequency of common conditions such as moderate depression and anxiety. Therapy guided by a professional can lead to significant breakthroughs and improve your mental health. As an added benefit, the positive effects of good therapy extend well beyond the treatment.
Your first session involves an initial assessment of your well being and a thorough intake of your personal history and background. Subsequent therapy sessions are 60 minutes in length and are unique to each treatment plan.
