Grief & Loss

Grief Counselling

Grief Counselling helps you deal with feelings of sadness and emptiness. We will work together to understand your grief or trauma and find closure.

What is Grief?

Grief is often expressed as feelings such as emptiness, anger, loneliness, despair, fear, regret, and pain. It can be triggered by many things, including the loss of a loved one, parent-child separation, divorce, job loss, or the end of a significant relationship. The thoughts and behaviours associated with grief can be very distressing for those suffering and those around them. It is essential to find different ways to cope during this challenging time, which will be the focus of our sessions.

Everyone experiences the grieving process differently. Some typical stages of the grieving process may include denial, anger, bargaining in an attempt to regain control, depression, and acceptance. The order, duration, and severity can vary for different people, so every treatment plan is unique for the individual.

Your first session involves an initial assessment of your well-being and a thorough intake of your personal history and background. Subsequent therapy sessions are 60 minutes in length and are unique to each treatment plan.
